About the role
As a Combo Pipe Welder Journeyman you will be responsible for welding and fitting piping systems for commercial and industrial projects. This role requires proficiency in multiple welding processes, including TIG and Stick, on various materials such as carbon and stainless steel. You’ll read and interpret blueprints, ensure all work meets safety and quality standards, and collaborate with a team to complete high-quality installations. Essential Duties, Roles, Responsibilities & Procedures:
- Project Review: Analyze welding blueprints, specifications, and work orders to understand project requirements.
- Material Preparation: Prepare and inspect materials before welding to ensure proper fit and alignment.
- Welding Operations: Perform welding tasks using various techniques, including MIG, TIG, and stick welding.
- Quality Control: Ensure all welds meet industry standards and company quality requirements.
- Safety Compliance: Follow all OSHA and company safety procedures, including proper use of personal protective equipment (PPE).
- Equipment Maintenance: Maintain welding tools and equipment in good working condition.
- Regulatory Compliance: Stay informed about industry regulations and ensure all welding activities meet safety and code requirements.
- Documentation: Maintain accurate records of welding activities, including materials used, inspection reports, and work completion details.
- Collaboration: Work closely with supervisors, engineers, and other trades to ensure project efficiency.
- Training & Mentorship: Assist in training and mentoring junior welders to enhance their skills and knowledge.
- Communication: Maintain clear and effective communication with supervisors, project managers, and team members.
Qualifications & Experience:
- Education & Certifications:
- High school diploma or equivalent required.
- Completion of a welding apprenticeship program or vocational training preferred.
- AWS (American Welding Society) certification preferred.
- Must possess any licenses or certifications required by state or local regulations
- OSHA 10 certification required.
- Experience:
- Minimum of 3+ years of experience in industrial welding and fabrication.
- Experience with carbon steel, stainless steel, and alloy welding is a plus.
- Technical Skills:
- Proficiency in MIG, TIG, stick (SMAW), and flux-core welding techniques.
- Ability to read and interpret welding blueprints, schematics, and fabrication drawings.
- Familiarity with welding inspection methods, including visual and non-destructive testing (NDT).
- Ability to operate grinders, cutting torches, and plasma cutters.

Physical Requirements & Work Environment:
- Physical Requirements:
- Ability to lift and carry up to 50 lbs. regularly.
- Frequent standing, bending, kneeling, and working in confined spaces.
- Ability to work at heights, on scaffolding, and in enclosed areas when required.
- Work Environment:
- Primarily field-based, working on industrial construction sites and fabrication shops.
- Exposure to high heat, sparks, fumes, and loud noise from welding operations.
- Use of personal protective equipment (PPE), including welding helmets, gloves, and fire-resistant clothing.
- Travel Requirements:
- May require travel between job sites depending on project needs.
