Commercial Construction Estimator

Summary:

The Commercial Construction Estimator is responsible for preparing and/or coordinating the preparation of full estimates on large and complex Commercial construction projects as required by the client's documents and provides complete conceptual description of the project and total bid price.

Duties and Responsibilities:

1. Reviews and evaluates requests for estimates.
2. Ensures timely completion of estimates.
3. Reviews estimates and revisions for completeness and accuracy.
4. Reviews construction documents and understands the scope of work to bid.
5. Executes take-offs of construction documents.
6. Inputs take-offs into a computer spreadsheet.
7. Obtains pricing for materials.
8. Prepares cost analysis by recapitulating material, labor, equipment, and overhead costs incurred in the installation of items.
9. Makes an estimate where predetermined standard(s) are not available.
10. Informs immediate supervisor of any observed inaccuracies or omissions in quoted items on computer database.
11. Develops and maintains resource information on products, vendors, subcontractors, government requirements, etc.
12. Attends departmental meetings as required.
13. Creates job folders.
14. Photocopies documents and plans.
15. All other duties assigned

Required Qualifications:

Education:

Bachelor's degree

Experience:

2-3 years of related experience and/or training

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

Knowledge of:

• Microsoft Word and Excel knowledge
• Preferred experience in Sage estimating software.
