Job Summary    

We are seeking an experienced Commissioning Manager in the Renewable Energy market to manage and oversee the commissioning process of large-scale projects. Ensure that systems, facilities, or equipment are installed, tested, and functioning as intended before being handed over to the client.

• Oversee commissioning operations from utility scale solar / photovoltaic project kickoff through customer acceptance
• Responsible for planning, checking, quality assurance, monitoring, evaluation, and preparation of commissioning reports to management. Staff, train, and manage solar commissioning team personnel.
• Create guidelines and procedures to ensure all project activities are completed according to a standard process, project plan and budget
• Carry out the commissioning and start-up according to the commissioning, start-up, operation and maintenance manuals.
• Prepare commissioning documents for each site according to contract obligations. Manage 3rd party testing when necessary. Review and verify completed testing documentation. Ensure project is completed by deadline date.
• Conduct routine audits as necessary. Interact with engineering to troubleshoot any technical issues.
• This position requires field visit to local sites and the potential for a small amount of overnight travel

Knowledge/Skills/Ability

Proficiency with AutoCAD required; Proficiency in Microsoft Office including Excel, Word, and additional computer software; Possesses effective written and oral communications skills; Assists with client contacts and communication pertaining to specific assignments and meetings.  Must possess strong technical verbal and technical writing skills and be able to read technical literature and engineering plans.  Must demonstrate two-way communication to effectively work with internal staff and external clients. Electrical and mechanical theory. Team supervision. Budgeting procedures. Commissioning operations, start-up and practices for Solar projects, including reading operations and maintenance manuals and procedures. Interpreting engineering drawings. Organizing, instructing and supervising Commissioning crews in all facets of construction. Supervising the testing, commissioning and start-up of high, medium, low voltage and dc equipment/electrical and electronic systems. Leadership and supervision. Writing correspondence and compiling reports. Speaking to groups and making recommendations. Troubleshooting and data analysis. Computer skills.

Education                   

Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or related field or an equivalent combination of education and experience.

Experience

5 years of experience in a Commissioning Manager role or other relevant experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience.

The office provides a safe and healthy work environment, is adequately heated and cooled, is free from exposure and extreme conditions, has appropriate lighting and office furnishings, and is smoke-free and drug-free.  While performing the duties of this position in the fabrication shop, warehouse, maintenance shop or at a project site, the employee could be regularly exposed to any number of the following, including, but not limited to:  moving mechanical parts; moving machinery; high, precarious places (including, but not limited to, being raised several hundred feet in a bucket); close tight quarters; rough and sloped terrain; fumes or airborne particles; drilling and blasting activities; welding activities; toxic or caustic chemicals; the potential of falling rock; and outside weather conditions.  The employee may be occasionally exposed to risk of electrical shock and vibration.  The noise level in the work environment is generally loud.
