Heating, Air Conditioning and Refrigeration Full-Time Evening Faculty
The Tennessee College of Applied Technology
Murfreesboro is accepting applications for a faculty position in the HACR Evening
Program. The HACR program prepares
students to troubleshoot, repair, and maintain residential and commercial air
conditioning, heat pumps, humidifiers, and electrical and gas heating.
Students also learn the fundamentals of electricity, electric motors, and
controls.
Applicants must submit to and pass a background check.
Required Qualifications:
High school diploma or equivalent.
Minimum three (3) years of experience in
the HACR field, preferably within the last five (5) years.
Must possess a high degree of knowledge
in the following areas: safety, tools and materials, installation,
troubleshooting, and repairing various HACR systems.
Preferred Qualifications:
Associate degree or diploma from an accredited HACR technical program.
EPA Universal Certification.
NATE Certification is preferred.
Prior teaching or evidence of ability to teach students is preferred.
Major Duties and Responsibilities:
This faculty position is
responsible to the Vice President of Instruction and Accreditation for the
development, implementation, evaluation, modification, and operation of the
HACR program. The position is
responsible for providing individualized theory and hands-on instruction to
adult and high school students to prepare them for employment in the field.
Must possess industrial expertise
in all phases of industrial, residential, and commercial HVAC/R systems to
include installation and service. The faculty
member must monitor, grade, and evaluate individual student progress; maintain
student records in the college’s student records management software; maintain
appropriate documentation; submit timely reports; and assist in recruitment of
new students and placement of graduates.
Must work with the Day HACR
Instructor to coordinate both day and evening programs to ensure curriculum continuity
between both sections. Faculty member
must also maintain good public relations with business and industry, maintain
an active advisory committee and cooperate with outside agencies. This position
will also supervise and follow-up on students participating in cooperative
education.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
Must
possess computer skills.
Strong
hands-on technical background in the field.
Must
possess the communication skills necessary to be an effective teacher and
interact with high school and adult students.
Must
show evidence of good character, organizational skills, and mature
attitude.
Must be
willing to remain current in the instructional field and maintain personal
certifications and program accreditation(s).
Requires initiative and cooperation,
i.e., to plan and organize work without close supervision; show initiative
and perseverance in satisfying student and community needs; have the
ability and possess a desire to interact positivity with other faculty,
staff, and students.
Possess good organizational,
mathematical, language, writing and communication skills.
Physical Requirements:
Bending, sitting, squatting in order to demonstrate skills on HACR equipment.
Communicating for extended periods while lecturing.
Sitting at computer for extended periods to enter grades and attendance.
Lifting 50 lbs.
Salary Range:
This is an exempt position. Salary commensurate with qualifications,
education, experience and in accordance with the guidelines established by the
Tennessee Board of Regents.
