Job Description Summary
Facilities Master Plumber performs the full range of plumbing maintenance, repair, replacement, and emergency response for all Weld County owned facilities. Facilities Master Plumber will respond to afterhours emergency calls to include weekends and holidays. This position requires a high level of commercial plumbing knowledge and skills. Decision making and good judgement are essential to this position and the ability to prioritize tasks as well as working with limited or no supervision. Technicians will be performing tasks in the jail and locations dispersed throughout the county. Position reports to the Operations Manager and or Director of Facilities.

Job Description
Essential duties - 60%
- Perform tasks including but not limited to the following: assemble pipe sections, tubing and fittings, using couplings, clamps, screws, bolts, cement, plastic solvent, caulking, or soldering, brazing and welding equipment
- Cut openings in structures to accommodate pipes and pipe fittings, using hand and power tools.
- Hang steel supports from ceiling joists to hold pipes in place.
- Repair and maintain plumbing, components, replacing or mending broken pipes, and opening clogged drain, pumps, grinders and water generators.
- Install underground storm, sanitary and water piping systems and extend piping to connect fixtures and plumbing to these systems.
- Repair, replace, install commercial hot water heaters.
- Erect and work off of scaffolding and ladders
- Test, repair, and certify backflow devices.
- Perform annual testing of fire sprinkler equipment.
- Perform repair and maintenance on the full range of plumbing equipment specific to a jail complex.
- Adjust, repair, and maintain pressure reducing devices and balancing valves.
- Locate and mark the position of pipe installations, connections, passage holes, and fixtures in structures, using measuring instruments such as rulers and levels.
- Perform job assignments as directed by the Superintendent and/or the Director.
Organization - 30%
- Document workflow using work order management system, track time on tasks and materials used.
- Record preventative maintenance tasks and follows routine preventative maintenance schedules.
- Review blueprints to ascertain efficient approaches to problem solving.
- Review construction documents for new projects, follows current building code.
- Read and understand building plans and inspect structures to assess material and equipment needs, to establish the sequence of pipe installations, and to plan installation around obstructions such as electrical wiring.
- Support project management staff with new construction and punch list review.
- Assist with development of project cost estimates.
- Perform work in the jail complex in a safe and efficient manner following established protocol.
- Ability to work effectively in groups of peers and employees.
- Collaborate with Facilities staff and contractors to meet objectives.
Proactive engagement - 10%
- Maintain constructive working relationships with peers, subordinates, superiors, administrative staff in the Buildings & Grounds Department and other county departments.
- Required to adjust normal shift start or end times during emergency situations.
- Operate a vehicle in routine conditions as well as during inclement weather.
- Train and works with support staff to include facilities maintenance, contractors, and temporary labor.
- Effectively communicates to investigate complaints, evaluate working conditions for safety improvements, investigate and report on-the-job injuries and damage of county property as necessary.

Experience Qualifications
- 5 years thorough knowledge of all aspects of plumbing systems, construction practice and safety procedures.
Skills and Abilities
- Ability to add, subtract, multiply and divide in all units of measure using whole numbers, common fractions and decimals. (High proficiency)
- Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent and too draw and interpret graphs. (High proficiency)
- Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out detailed but straight forward written and/or oral instructions. (High proficiency)
- Ability to respond to and solve problems involving several concrete variables in standard situations. (High proficiency)
- Ability to utilize reference skills to locate accurate information quickly with minimal resource. (High proficiency)
- Ability to function independently as well as in a team environment to complete all necessary duties (High proficiency)
- Working knowledge of all relevant national and local codes and industry standards. (High proficiency)
Licenses and Certifications
- State of Colorado Journeyman Plumber Upon Hire Required
- State of Colorado Master Plumber Upon Hire Preferred
- Candidate must pass criminal background check by employment start date. Required
- DL NUMBER - Driver License, Valid and in State Upon Hire Required
- Candidate must pass pre-employment substance screening and may be subject to random screenings throughout employment. Upon Hire Preferred
