Description

The Refrigeration Application Engineer is responsible for the design, programming, installation support, and commissioning of Novar Refrigeration automation systems. This role develops site-specific programming, provides technical expertise to engineering teams, end users, and program managers, and ensures projects are delivered with accuracy, safety, and efficiency. You will report directly to the onsite manager in the fast-growing Northwest Arkansas area! (This is an office position)



Responsibilities

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop and implement site-specific programming to meet project requirements for refrigeration and building automation systems.
  • Read, interpret, and apply architectural, electrical, and mechanical drawings to support accurate design and installation.
  • Translate MEP design requirements into program modules to configure and optimize system performance.
  • Interface with the Refrigeration Engineering Team, End Users, and Program Managers for project definition, technical support, and issue resolution.
  • Support installation, configuration, and commissioning of Novar Building Automation Control Systems. 
  • Troubleshoot and resolve technical issues with HVAC, refrigeration, and automation systems, including controllers and PLCs.
  • Ensure compliance with industry standards, building codes, and safety regulations.
  • Prepare accurate documentation, including commissioning reports, programming files, and service logs.

Provide technical recommendations for system optimization and upgrades



Qualifications

You Must Have:

  • High school diploma/GED with relevant field or industry experience.
  • 2+ years’ experience in refrigeration or building automation controls, including programming, installation, and troubleshooting.
  • Proven ability to develop site-specific programming for refrigeration or building automation systems.
  • Strong experience reading and interpreting architectural, electrical, and mechanical drawings.
  • Hands-on experience interfacing with engineering teams, end users, contractors, and project managers to define project scope and resolve issues.
  • Experience programming/configuring PLC-based systems and tuning control loops.
  • Proficiency with HVAC or refrigeration operations, including system diagnostics and troubleshooting.
  • Familiarity with industry-standard networking protocols (LAN, BACnet, Modbus).
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills.

We Value:

  • Associate or Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Industrial Technology, or Computer Science.
  • 2+ years of experience in building automation, refrigeration, or related field.
  • Knowledge of HVAC or refrigeration algorithms, energy management strategies, and PID loop tuning.
  • Tridium Niagara Framework Certification.
  • Detail-oriented with a strong focus on accuracy, quality, and safety.
  • Willingness to work overtime or travel as needed during peak project demand
