This role will perform welding and fabrication work, which requires extensive knowledge of techniques and procedures as they relate to fabricating, assembling, and welding a HONEYCOMB ROLL®.  This role has knowledge of reading drawings, exercises judgment, and uses skills to attain accuracy and conformance to specifications with minimal supervision. Assists the Roll Fabrication Team Leader with daily operations and training as needed.

Key Responsibilities

  • Selects specified HONEYCOMB® material from stock according to specifications.
  • Operates equipment, including presses, welders, and spot welders used to form and fabricate HONEYCOMB® components.
  • Assembles and welds roll singles and sections using fixtures and gauges to ensure proper dimensions and cell alignment accuracy.
  • Assists in the assembly of various shells. 
  • Sets up and operates GMAW, GTAW, and SMAW. Is knowledgeable in selecting proper gases and adjusting machines to proper parameters for given weld.
  • Attaches rigging and operates overhead crane and/or uses lift truck to move parts to fabrication or assembly area.
  • Conforms to the ISO 9000 system. 
  • Identifies areas for improvement throughout the roll fabrication process with regards to safety, manufacturing, tools and equipment.
  • Maintains orderliness and cleanliness in work areas along with assigned area(s) and equipment per LEAN 6s.
  • Willingness to work overtime to meet delivery schedules and travel to customer/vendor facilities as needed.
  • Helps ensure that safety policies are being followed and reports concerns to management.
  • Performs other duties and tasks as may be assigned.

Qualifications

EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE:

  • Two-year technical college degree in manufacturing technology or equivalent formal training program.
  • Minimum of 2 years related fabrication experience
  • Experience performing GMAW, GTAW, and SMAW welding processes on stainless steel. 

LANGUAGE SKILLS:

  • Ability to read and understand complex drawings and various types of measuring instruments.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.

MATHEMATICAL SKILLS:

  • Advanced knowledge of mathematics, including trigonometry.

REASONING ABILITY:

  • Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form. 
  • Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables.
