We are seeking hardworking and safety-focused Utility Technicians to join our team in maintaining and supporting water treatment operations. The Utility Technician plays a vital role in supporting plant operations through cleaning, maintenance, and emergency response activities. This position involves working in and around confined spaces, handling sludge and debris, and ensuring facilities are safe and operating efficiently.

 

Essential Functions:

 

  • Perform weir cleaning, including scrubbing algae from walls, pulling weeds, and pressure washing.

  • Maintain clarifier tanks by scrubbing algae, pressure washing, and removing sludge/debris when tanks are drained.

  • Clean aeration basins and settling/final tanks, removing accumulated sludge and debris from tank bottoms and draft tubes.

  • Service MLSS channels by setting in stop logs, setting up trash pumps to drain channels, and cleaning out sludge and debris.

  • Act as first responders for sludge spills, ensuring safe and timely cleanup.

  • Maintain compliance with all safety procedures, including Lockout/Tagout (LOTO) and confined space entry requirements.

  • Support seasonal demands; during the summer, expect approximately 80% of duties to involve weir and tank cleaning due to algae bloom and heat conditions.

 

Qualifications:

  • High school diploma or equivalent required.

  • Experience in water treatment, wastewater, or industrial maintenance preferred.

  • Ability to work in confined spaces and follow all LOTO and safety procedures.

  • Physically able to lift, bend, climb, and perform labor-intensive tasks in outdoor conditions.

  • Team player with strong work ethic and reliability.

  • Willingness to work in varying weather conditions and respond to emergencies as needed.
