Founded in 1970 and headquartered in Horn Lake, MS, Upchurch has grown through both organic expansion and strategic acquisitions, establishing a strong reputation for quality, reliability, and service excellence. We offer end-to-end solutions—from design and installation to ongoing maintenance and emergency support—helping clients maximize building performance, energy efficiency, and equipment lifespan.

Position Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Commercial Service Plumber to join our team. The ideal candidate will have a strong understanding of commercial plumbing systems and hands-on expertise in installation, maintenance, and repair. This role involves performing full monthly maintenance, emergency service calls, and contract work in large commercial buildings. Candidates should be proficient in backflow prevention, boilers (water and low-pressure steam), pump skids, hydro-jetting, and sewer services, while demonstrating a commitment to delivering high-quality workmanship and exceptional customer service.

Key Responsibilities

· Troubleshoot, maintain, repair and replace plumbing systems in commercial and institutional facilities including domestic water, sanitary and storm drainage, process piping, and specialty systems.

· Perform preventive maintenance and corrective repairs on commercial boiler systems (both hot water and low-pressure steam), including controls, burners, gauges, valves, condensate return, blowdown and safety devices.

· Service, troubleshoot and maintain pump skid systems (for example proprietary systems from TigerFlow and similar) used in water-boosting, heating/cooling loops, pressure maintenance, and fire/water systems.

· Test, repair and certify backflow prevention assemblies and devices, maintaining compliance with municipal requirements.

· Conduct hydro-jetting of drain and sewer lines, perform sewer clean-outs, and operate sewer inspection cameras to identify blockages, structural issues, or system defects.

· Read and interpret blueprints, piping schematics, equipment submittals and preventive maintenance manuals; estimate labor, materials and time required for service calls and contract work.

· Document all work including service logs, inspection sheets, compliance forms, and customer communication; maintain truck inventory, tools, and vehicle in clean, professional condition.

· Respond to emergency service calls on a rotating on-call basis, diagnosing problems quickly, coordinating with other trades when needed, and minimizing client downtime.

· Ensure all work is performed in compliance with applicable plumbing, boiler, steam, and backflow codes, and meet company safety and quality standards.

Experience & Qualifications

· Minimum 5 years’ experience in commercial plumbing service for large-scale facilities (office towers, hospitals, schools, industrial plants).

· Proven experience with commercial boiler systems including hot-water heating boilers and low-pressure steam boilers: routine and emergency maintenance, burner controls, pressure/temperature safety devices, condensate return, water treatment, and blow-down procedures. Knowledge of low-pressure steam practices as defined under regulatory codes is required.

· Solid experience with pump skid systems: preferably including vertical-multistage, booster, or packaged skid units, with ability to understand pump curves, variable-frequency drives (VFDs), pressure/flow monitoring, isolating and servicing components.

· Experience testing, repairing and certifying backflow prevention assemblies within commercial systems, with knowledge of local municipal test requirements and compliance.

· Experience in sewer and drain service: hydro-jetting large sanitary/storm mains, performing clean-outs in commercial buildings, utilizing sewer-inspection cameras to locate blockages, structural defects or infiltration issues.

· Ability to read and interpret blueprints, drawings, specifications, and to perform pipe layout, install and assemble piping, tubes, valves, fixtures, or specialty plumbing equipment.

· Valid plumber’s license (journeyman or master as required by your state/municipality) and valid driver’s license with a clean driving record. Some postings prefer journeyman level with backflow tester certification.

· Strong mechanical aptitude, excellent troubleshooting skills, ability to work independently or as part of a team, good communication with clients and internal staff, professionalism in appearance and customer interaction.

· Physical ability to perform job requirements: lifting up to 50 lbs frequently, working in confined spaces, climbing ladders, scaffolding, or man lifts as required.

Preferred / Bonus Skills

· Certification as a Backflow Prevention Assembly Tester (BPAT) or equivalent.

· Experience with large mechanical chilled-water/hot-water loops or central plant systems.

· Familiarity with computerized maintenance management systems (CMMS), mobile‐tablet based documentation and service reporting.

· Experience working on multi-trade projects (coordinating with HVAC, electrical, mechanical).

· Ability and willingness to be part of an on-call rotation for emergency service after hours.
