Essential Functions:

1. Painting
- Stock cabinets with gallons of paint for upcoming jobs.
- Make sure correct paint is used (i.e. color, tint), in accordance with customer specification and company's color-code standards.
- Reduce paint to proper consistency for air gun use
- Load paint booth with parts that need painting; place parts on fixtures (e.g. sawhorses)
- Paint equipment using air guns (or aerosol cans for touch-up); Ensure a high-quality finish – evenly coated and free of runs.
- Remove parts from paint booth after drying, using forklift if necessary.
- Maintain and clean air guns, paint pots, etc. with gun cleaner or enamel reducer. Clean air hoses regularly.
- Maintain and clean respirators by manufacturer's instructions.
- Replace filters in paint booth periodically; replace paper floor covering in paint booth periodically.
2. Prepping
- Inspect and properly prepare the product to be painted, making appropriate notation on drawing and returning drawing to designated area.
- Place parts at a comfortable working height using slings, chains, overhead cranes, tables, etc., if possible.
- Use high pressure steam cleaner to remove dirt and oils on parts prior to painting, if necessary.
- Mask off machined surfaces to prevent from being spray-painted; remove masking tape when complete.
3. Parts Moving
- Operate a forklift truck and follow safe operational procedures.
- Replace empty propane cylinders.
- Complete daily pre-operational forklift checklist.
- Deliver parts to the appropriate area.
- Properly handle, move, and store materials/parts in the following areas:
- Parts after painting.
- Incoming parts
- Parts from the Napoleon Machine to Assembly.
- Parts and materials to other designated areas.
- Transport Hazardous waste, Drums of Used Oil, and Non-Regulated Waste to Waste Building. Make sure containers are properly labeled. Authorized to have access to the Hazardous Waste Storage Building.
4. General Housekeeping
- Sweep floors around machines. Throw away trash found on floors.
- Pick up and properly store chains, slings, clamps, hoses, tools, etc.
- Gather rags and put them in a proper container.
- Take cardboard boxes to the baler. Operate the baler. Empty cardboard baler when full.
5. Build wooden crates for shipping.
6. Safety
- Know and understand the safe operation of all equipment used.
- Wear the required personal protective equipment; make sure it is properly fitted and maintained.
- Must be trained in Spill Response. Member of the Spill Response Team.
- Must receive training on the loading, labeling, and documentation of Hazardous Wastes.
- Must be trained in the proper handling and storage of propane tanks.
- Must be trained in Securing Loads for DOT Transportation.
- Must hold a current Forklift Operator License.
- Ensure that all fire extinguishers, eyewash stations, and exit ways are maintained and clear of stored materials.
- Must be trained on the safe operation of Overhead Cranes.
7. Responsible for completing all work in a timely manner

Job Requirements:
- Must have a valid driver's license.
- Must have taken and passed the forklift operator course.
- Must understand steel color-coding and keep the steel yard organized.
- Must have the ability to paint a quality finish and perform various jobs throughout the plant.
- Must be clean-shaven when wearing a respirator to perform painting.
Work Environment:
- The work environment is typical of that associated with Assembly.
- Employee is subject to dust, paint mist, organic vapors, weld fumes, and oils.
- Heat can be a factor in the summer, especially while painting, and cold while moving parts outside.
- Noise levels are elevated during grinding, sanding, and painting.
- Forklift trucks and overhead cranes are available to aid in lifting and moving heavy pieces.
- Lighting is very good in the paint booth and assembly areas.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand. The employee is frequently required to use hands to finger, handle, or feel objects, tools, or controls, and to climb or balance. The employee is occasionally required to walk; reach with hands and arms; stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl; and talk or hear. The employee must regularly lift and move up to 10 pounds, frequently lift and move up to 25 pounds, and occasionally lift and move up to 50 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and the ability to adjust focus.
