Purpose and Scope

This position is responsible for trouble shooting, maintaining, and repairing all commercial refrigeration equipment used in central kitchen and school cafeterias.

Essential Job Functions

1. Analyzes, troubleshoots, installs, rebuilds, adjusts, and replaces commercial refrigeration equipment.
2. Performs major and/or minor repairs, as well preventative and corrective maintenance of equipment.
3. Inspects and verifies the operation and safety of commercial equipment.
4. Gathers and analyzes equipment failure information, research manufacturers’ manuals for technical guidance, makes decisions for the most efficient methods of carrying out requested repairs.
5. Maintains equipment, tools and vehicles as issued.
6. Keeps equipment and tools inventory records.
7. Interprets mechanical system prints and wiring schematics related to commercial equipment.
8. Responsible for coordinating and prioritizing work orders and assignments in a timely manner to reduce downtime.
9. Calibrates control components on all commercial equipment to ensure peak operations efficiency.
10. Performs other related duties as assigned or directed.

Minimum Qualifications

Graduation High School or GED equivalency, plus four (4) years of education and/or experience in refrigeration repair or preventive maintenance and refrigeration training at a technical school or program. Requires a valid state driver’s license and EPA certification.

Degree Equivalency Formula:
Bachelor’s Degree= 4 years plus required years of experience.
Master’s Degree= 2 years plus required years of experience. Where Master’s degrees are required, years for Bachelor’s Degrees must be included.
