We are looking for a Wireman/Substation Electrician to join our team! The Wireman/Substation Electrician has a working knowledge of substation construction, operation, maintenance and repair practices and procedures. They also have a working knowledge of equipment, apparatus, and wiring. They install, maintain, test, adjust, troubleshoot and repair substation equipment which includes, but is not limited to transformers, regulators, load tap changers, circuit breakers, circuit switchers, motor-operated and manual switches, bus work, wiring, battery banks and chargers, metal clad switchgear, GIS substations and substation structures. They operate substation equipment, perform switching, take clearances and install personal protective grounds. They perform testing on substation apparatus such as power factor, transformer turns ratio, megger, ductor, battery load testing, oil sampling, dielectric testing, SF6 gas sampling and processing and other analytical tests as assigned.
Journeymen are expected to follow safety rules and company standards. They may work in confined spaces and in elevated work areas, may work with bucket and boom trucks. They may work independently or with others, occasionally work long hours during emergency conditions, be responsible for tools, test equipment, and vehicles and perform similar and incidental duties as required.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
• Completion of a Wireman apprenticeship or its equivalent and be proficient in using tools and equipment of the trade on energized and de-energized systems.
• Working knowledge of fundamentals of electricity as pertains to utility systems.
• Ability to communicate effectively with others.
• Working knowledge of safety regulations and must possess or obtain within thirty (30) working days after selection, a First Aid Certificate.
• Must possess a valid driver’s license with the necessary endorsements.
• Must have the ability to maintain a current Commercial Driver’s License (CDL) including the necessary endorsements and removal of the air brake restriction.
ADDITIONAL INFORMATION:
• This is an IBEW represented position and successful candidates will become a member of the IBEW Local 77.
• These are safety sensitive positions and will be subject to random DOT drug and/or alcohol testing.
